The Solomon MethodThe Solomon Method is a technique referenced to Takeru Kobayashi's method to eat hot dogs. The Solomon Method is a way for competitive eaters to quickly ingest food, especially hot dogs, with haste. The athlete "[splits] the hot dogs and buns in half and then feeding them -- half on one side, half on the other -- into his mouth," which makes the throat act like a conveyor belt (Solomon Method, par. 4). The Solomon Method was dubbed by fans from the story of King Solomon. Where King Solomon decided to split a baby in half to determine, of the 2 women claiming to be the baby's mother, who was the real mother. Meaning the name of this method was created by fans because Takeru would tear the hot dog in half and place each half into each corner of his mouth and begin chewing it. The reason he would place it in the corner is because your molars are used for grinding and chewing large sizes of food. So by placing each half of the hot dog there increased Takeru's rate of ingestion.

In the video above, World Pickle Eating Champion, Arnie "Chowhound" Chapman explains one method to eating pickles by taking 2 pickles of relatively equal size and placing them on the sides of your mouth in-between your molars to grind the pickles. At 2:18 in the video, Champman explains the Wood chipper method, which he invented with pickle eating. The Wood Chipper is very similar to the Solomon method used by Takeru because it uses the molars at the back of your teeth to quickly grind up the food. The only difference in these 2 methods is that Takeru uses 2 halves of a hotdog, whereas, Chapman uses 2 whole pickles of similar size.
